@MikeGarafoloQB Jake Locker is retiring. Wow.
According to multiple reports, former Tennessee Titans Quarterback Jake Locker is retiring from the National Football League. This is very surprising news, considering Locker was one of the higher ranked free agent Quarterbacks available, and was likely gaining interest from other NFL teams. Locker could not stay healthy throughout his time with the Titans, from start to finish. This is a draft pick that will go down as a major disappointment by the Titans.
A highly touted baseball prospect at one point, one might wonder if he will try to go down that road. He was picked by the Los Angeles Angels years ago in the MLB Draft. Regardless of the route that Locker takes, the hope is that he is healthy and lands on his feet, which I am certain he will. Locker will likely make a statement and elaborate on his thought process and his next steps very soon. Stay tuned.
UPDATE WITH STATEMENT FROM LOCKER:
"I am retiring from football after much reflection and discussion with my family. I will always be grateful for having had the opportunity to realize my childhood dream of playing in the NFL and for the lifelong relationships I developed because of that experience. Football has always played a pivotal role in my life and I love the game, but I no longer have the burning desire necessary to play the game for a living; to continue to do so would be unfair to the next organization with whom I would eventually sign. I realize this decision is surprising to many, but I know in my heart that it is the right decision and I look forward to spending more time with my family and pursuing other interests."
