NFL Free agency: Teams with cap trouble

Which teams need to make cuts.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans are lucky to be one of the teams with a lot of cap room this season to attack the deep free agent class. However, as good as it looks now, it may get better by the time cap needy teams make cuts. Here is a look at the teams that need to cut some players to get under the cap in 2015 according to Overthecap.com.

Those listed as "players to cut" are players who would give the team much more cap room, but who aren't necessarily keys to the team's success. There are some exceptions though, for example if the Patriots don't sign their option on Revis then they get an extra $20 million in cap space. So while he is a great player, he isn't a player that is worth $20 million to a team projected to be several million above the cap.

Miami Dolphins

Top players to cut: Mike Wallace, Dannelle Ellerbe, Mike Pouncey

New England Patriots

Top players to cut: Darrelle Revis, Vince Wilfork, Brandon Browner

Pittsburgh Steelers

Top players to cut: Lawrence Timmons, Troy Polamalu Cameron Heyward

Kansas City

Top players to cut: Tamba Hali, Mike Devito, Dwayne Bowe

New Orleans Saints

Top players to cut: Jahri Evans, Marques Colston, Curtis Lofton

Arizona Cardinals

Top players to cut: Larry Fitzgerald, Darnell Dockett, Jerraud Powers

St. Louis Rams

Top players to cut: Sam Bradford, Jake Long, Kendall Langford

San Francisco 49ers

Top players to cut: Aldon Smith, Steve Johnson, Patrick Willis (huge cap hit and if Chris Borland is as good as he was last year they could look to move him).
