Lance Zierlein of NFL.com did a re-do of the 2014 NFL Draft. You will remember that the Tennessee Titans took Taylor Lewan with the 11th pick in that draft. The Houston Texans had the first pick in that draft and took Jadeveon Clowney. In the re-do, Zierlein had the Texans take Derek Carr with the first pick. That makes a whole lot of sense in hindsight.
Zierlein gave the Titans Clowney with their pick at 11. Clowney has all of the talent in the world. His NFL career has been derailed by injuries thus far. I don't hate the pick, but who they really should take with that pick, the way it fell in this re-do, is Kelvin Benjamin.
In the real draft Benjamin went 28th to the Carolina Panthers. Benjamin tore his ACL in training camp and is out for the year, but he was fantastic in his rookie year when he went for 73-1,008-9. He also had 2 touchdowns in the postseason. The Titans haven't had a receiver catch 9 touchdowns in a season since Kenny Britt in 2010. The last one before that was Drew Bennett with 11 back in 2004. It is amazing how bad this franchise has been at drafting and developing receivers.
