Titans Jets Final Score: Tennessee gets blown out 30-8

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

Nothing went right for the Titans in this one.  They were over-matched in all phases of this one against the Jets.  That's really not much of a surprise.  Tennessee looked really good against the Jaguars last week, but not every week is against a bad team.

We talked all week about how Marcus Mariota was going to need to have the game of his life for the Titans to win this one.  He didn't.  Now, he didn't get any help, but he also missed some throws that he usually hits.  There were so many times when the CBS broadcast would show the overhead shot and there just wasn't anyone open.  There were also a couple of bad drops by Delanie Walker (his first drop of the year) and Dorial Green-Beckham (not his first drop of the year).

The defense was horrific.  They had no answer for Eric Decker early in the game, and on one play decided it wasn't necessary to cover Brandon Marshall.  That's not a good gameplan.  We are officially past the point where we need to worry about whether or not the new coach will keep Dick LeBeau.  He did a good job early in the year, but his unit has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks.

And for the love of Pete, could the coaches tell the kick returner to just take a knee in the end zone on kickoffs.  Nothing good ever happens for the Titans when the ball is brought out- no matter who the returner is.

The only good news from the day is that the Cleveland Brown beat the 49ers.  That should put the Titans back in position to get the #1 pick in the draft.  It is tough to see another game the Titans will win.
