Jeremiah Poutasi no lock to start for Tennessee Titans

A big blow to the Titans rookie.

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans are a team in flux right now, and now they are facing another position switch. For the whole week it looked like the Titans would make the obvious switch moving rookie offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi to left guard and then moving veteran tackle back to his natural right tackle.

However it looked like another move will be made:

So I have to guess that this means that if Andy Gallik is healthy, that Looney will move into that guard position. Now, this could all be a smokescreen because we have heard this week that Poutasi was taking reps at guard and it does seem like the natural move.

If the Titans are looking at Looney as a replacement at left guard, that wouldn't be a terrible idea. According to PFF, when Looney played left guard he was actually above average if you exclude one rough game against the Denver Broncos.

However, I would really like to see Poutasi in the position he is best suited for, which has always been guard. He is a powerful player that can take over at the point of attack, but he has been getting destroyed in open space. Put him in tight quarters and see if he can win some battles.
