The Titans officially activate David Cobb from the short-term IR today. They cut Charlie Whitehurst to make room on the roster for Cobb. I am a little surprised they decided to let Whitehurst go, but that means that they are 100% confident in Mariota's knee. They must also feel pretty good about their ability to keep him upright for the rest of the year.
Whitehurst was definitely a Ken Whisenhunt guy. Whitehurst was with Whiz in San Diego before coming to Tennessee.
Cobb figures to be in the mix for carries this weekend. Antonio Andrews had a nice game last week, but Cobb has a higher ceiling than Andrews. Cobb was probably the favorite to win the starting job out of camp before he was hurt. Now he is 100%. This gives the Titans 2 guys that are capable of getting yards between the tackles. Dexter McCluster figures to be the one that really loses carries in this deal.
