It looks like everyone's votes this week made a difference, because Marcus Mariota was named AFC Offensive player of the week. He threw for 371 yards, 4 Touchdowns, and 0 interceptions on Sunday against the Saints, and it simply does not get much better than that. The Titans' official website posted a full link here.
Mariota has received several awards already this season, and it would not be surprising in the slightest to see him win more as the season goes on. He is already in the upper half of quarterbacks in the league, and is only getting better on what is a below average football team. At this point, it seems like as the years go on and the franchise continues to build around him, he will end up being one of the elite quarterbacks in the league.
There is clearly no doubt that the Titans made the absolute correct decision in drafting Marcus Mariota. If it wasn't his week 1 performance that swayed you, maybe it was Zach Mettenberger's two showings. If it wasn't that, then it was Sunday's flawless performance. The point is that the Titans could not be in better hands going forward.Congratulations to Marcus Mariota on yet another award, and here's to more that will come!
