Will Marcus Mariota Play? Should Marcus Mariota Play?

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

It has been reported by multiple people that Marcus Mariota has a grade 2 MCL sprain.  According to doctors who know stuff about knee injuries, it usually takes 2-4 weeks for that to heal.  It is the same injury Ben Roethlisberger has.  He hasn't played since week 3 and isn't expected to play this week.

The one difference between the Roethlisberger injury and the Mariota injury is that Mariota stayed in the game after his happened.  Big Ben did not.  That has to be a good sign.....right?

So that begs the question, how healthy does Mariota have to be for Ken Whisenhunt to give him the start?  It was obvious after the dirty hit that Mariota wasn't anywhere close to 100%. Zach Mettenberger probably would have given the Titans a better chance to win that game, but you have to love the fact that Mariota wanted to stay in there.  Now it is up to Whiz to decide what the best course of action is going forward (and who here doesn't have a ton of confidence in Whiz's decision making??)

It really should come down to who gives the team a better chance to win.  I hope that is Mariota, but if the second half last week is any indication, going with Mettenberger might be the better option.
