I know this loss sucked. It is the first time with Marcus Mariota that it felt like 2014 all over again. I can't argue that the Titans need to clean house, but I don't think they will do it especially not right now. So, with that I want to focus on one thing that the Tennessee Titans can change in a week.
Add Jason Babin
It felt like there was absolutely no pass rush today, except for a few moments of brilliance from Derrick Morgan, Brian Orakpo and Dick Lebeau. This team needs pass rushers two-deep and with Deiontrez Mount out, they are running on fumes at OLB.
I talked about how the Titans could move things around and end up with Zach Brown rushing the passer from the backside, but that didn't happen today because Avery Williamson was a surprise scratch. Running with backups on every level of the defense killed this team and they need a veteran presence who can rush the passer and play the run in space. I looked at who is available and the only name that checks out is Babin.
I'm not saying give him a 4-year deal, but a 1-year deal as a short term fix should be enough. This team needs help on the edges and nothing shows that more than how they preformed today. Babin is a talented player who has 16.5 sacks in the last three years and this team needs some sort of spark. Or you could have David Bass and and Justin Staples rush the passer with Blidi Wreh-Wilson in coverage if you want.
