John Fox and the Bears Expected to Ask to Interview Mike Mularkey

New, comments

Mike Mularkey is a hot name on the offensive coordinator market....for some reason.

The Chicago Bears have hired John Fox to be their next head coach. Now there is a report out there that he will ask the Titans for permission to interview Mike Mularkey to be his offensive coordinator:

John Fox and the Bears expected to try to interview Mike Mularkey as OC, source says. Titans denied TB's request. Let's see what happens.
— Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) January 16, 2015

As Garafolo mentioned, Lovie Smith, former Bears head coach, asked for permission to interview Mularkey to be his OC but was turned down by The Whiz. I'm not really sure why anyone would want to talk to anyone on the Titans coaching staff, but apparently Mularkey is a pretty hot names.

To be fair, Mularkey has done pretty well as a coordinator. He was just terrible as a head coach. He was the OC in Pittsburgh in the early 2000s and for the Falcons from 2008-2012.

It will be interesting to see if the answer from the Titans is any different this time.
