Pro Football Talk is reporting that Robert Mathis tore his Achilles while working out on his own during his last week in Atlanta. Mathis was suspended the first four games of the season after testing positive for a PED. He says it was from taking a fertility drug because he and his wife were trying to have a baby.
Mathis was a terror last year for the Indy defense. He had 19 sacks and made the Pro Bowl. He is a guy that teams would have to game plan for.
The Colts defense looked pretty bad last night (of course Peyton Manning tends to do that to defenses). This news really means that the AFC South is wide open. The Colts are still the team to beat, but they are knocked down a peg with this one.
