Week 1 is finally here. The Tennessee Titans open the season as a 4 point underdog against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead. That line is lower than you would expect for a non-playoff team last season going on the road to face a playoff team from last season.
So does that mean that Vegas is high on the Titans or low on the Chiefs? I would say a little bit of both, but probably with a little bit more weight towards the low on the Chiefs. A lot of places have the Chiefs regressing from last season.
I don't really understand that. I get that people don't love Alex Smith, but Andy Reid is a very good quarterbacks coach. Reid got a high level of play out of Smith last year. There is no reason to believe he cannot do it again....plus they still have Jamaal Charles.
They also have a really good defense, so it will be imperative to take of the football (as if it isn't every week). Giving the Chiefs a short field and momentum at home on opening weekend could be a disaster.
This game is a good test for the Titans. It is the type of game they need to win if they are going to make the playoffs. The Chiefs are a good, playoff quality team, but they aren't an elite team. That is what the Titans hope to be this season. They can start to prove they are this weekend.
