Some things to expect for Titans vs Packers

Some not-so-obvious things that will likely happen in tonight's preseason game.

Football is finally (sort of) back in Tennessee, and everyone should be excited about tonight's matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Green Bay Packers. However, there are some things that you need to prepare for before you watch tonight's game.

Bad officiating

If you have been watching the other preseason games, you know that there will be a lot of flags thrown tonight. The officials are trying to make a point on illegal use of hands in the trenches, and illegal contact in the secondary. With the Packers wide receivers being as experienced and savvy as they are and Ray Horton preaching physicality, there will probably be some upsetting calls tonight.

However, don't think that any flags are an indication of how the regular season will go. I can't say for sure, but these things usually have a way of correcting back to the mean and it will likely be a very similar product to the 2013 NFL.

Vanilla play calling

Fans may get a chance to see some stunts and twists tonight on the defense, but don't expect to see any of the complex schemes that you will see in the regular season. For one the Titans have already said that they aren't even gameplanning for the Packers, and even if they were they don't want to tip their hand.

On the offensive side of the ball, look for the Titans to run the ball to hide some of the combination routes that they have been working on in practice. Fans may see a reverse or a sluggo route to Justin Hunter, but it will just be a tiny part of the game. Mostly what fans will see is a much more physical scrimmage with more control from the officials.
