Per sources, the Tennessee Titans have begun contract negotiation talks with standout Defensive Tackle Jurrell Casey. While few details are yet available, its safe to say that stockpile of cap space I wrote about just the other day will be significantly less if both parties can hammer out a deal. The Titans may pay a high price for the star DT, but doing a deal now could save them down the road; another big year will pump up Casey's price tag and he would have other teams as suitors. Tying him up this year solidifies the Titans defensive line while they have the cap capacity to do so.
Numbers are yet to emerge from the talks, but one can expect a healthy long term deal for a guy considered to be at the top of his game, 4th best among DT's league wide if PFF is to be consulted.
This would be a smart deal to get accomplished by GM Ruston Webster, lets hope it gets wrapped up sooner rather than later.
