2014 NFL Draft Grades: Titans get an A+ for the Zach Mettenberger pick

New, comments

There was a lot of Twitter hate for the Zach Mettenberger pick. That was not the case with one CBS Sports writer.

Kevin C. Cox

Derek Stephens of CBS Sports gave the Titans an A+ for their sixth round selection of LSU Quarterback Zach Mettenberger.  Here is what he had to say:

Mettenberger has NFL-starter qualities in a big arm and good accuracy. He moves well through progressions, but lacks mobility to stay alive in the pocket. A surprise drop to the 6th here, Mettenberger looks like a guy who could eventually compete for the starting AB role in Tennessee, where current starter Jake Locker has struggled with consistency and durability.
So that is good news. The bad news is that Stephens only gave one other A+, and that was to the Jacksonville Jaguars for their selection of Blake Bortles third overall.

That being said, if the Jags found a starting quarterback in the first and the Titans found one in the sixth, advantage Titans.
