It is always fun to see how the national media spins stories. Jim Wyatt reported yesterday that the Titans will not be picking up the 5th year option on Jake Locker's contract. You know, the one that would lock them into paying him $14.6 million in 2015.
Pro Football Talk led off their story on this "development" with this gem:
In another sign that the new regime in Tennessee isn’t sold on quarterback Jake Locker, the Titans have decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on Locker’s rookie contract.
I have news for you Michael David Smith, the old regime would not have picked up that option. No one in their right mind would have picked up that option with Locker's injury history.
This new regime is going to give Locker a chance to prove that he can be the guy. Even if they draft a quarterback early in this draft it doesn't mean they aren't sold on Locker. It means that they are protecting themselves in the even that Locker has another season cut short by injuries.
So how about you use common sense, Michael David Smith, instead of leading off your post with a sensational introduction. Thanks.
