Breaking News: Tennessee Titans Release David Stewart

The Titans let go of one of the offensive lines' stalwarts today.

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans, as expected, jumped ship on Right Tackle David Stewart today. The move frees up a lot of cap space for Tennessee, and is no surprise at this stage. The Titans now have a hole to fill on the line, one which they will draft to accomplish, or promote young tackle Byron Stingily to the starting lineup.

While the move makes sense for the Titans, it is sad to a guy like him go. Injuries caught up to him in his final two years here in Tennessee, but he will not be soon forgotten for his long-standing contributions to the team, not less his physical play and gritty, take-no-prisoners attitude. He was a huge part of the Titans success on the ground during his career, and he is up there with the best offensive linemen in Titans history.

No word yet on whether the veteran offensive tackle, affectionately known as "Big Country", will pursue another team or hang up the cleats, but either way I, and Titans nation collectively, should wish him all the best.
