Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean caught up with Tommy Smith today while Smith was in Nashville.  Smith said once again that Ruston Webster and Ken Whisenhunt are safe.  He thinks the problem with this team is the players.  Here is part of what he told Wyatt:

The roster is going to look a lot different next year," Smith said Wednesday. "Players need to be playing to the best of their abilities right now, and that will determine their future. There may be some players whose contracts might be up, but that doesn’t mean they’re not going to be here. There may be some players with multiyear contracts, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to be here.

There is a lot of good stuff from Smith in the article. Make sure you click the link and read the whole thing.

Smith pointed to the 2014 draft as a sign that Webster knows what he is doing. He does have a point there. Guys like Taylor Lewan and Avery Williamson are players that you can build around. Bishop Sankey has shown a lot of potential as well.

Webster's problem has been his free agency signings. They have been terrible. He is going to get a chance to redeem himself this offseason because the Titans are going to have a lot of money to spend and a lot of holes to fill. I am good with giving him one more chance to get it right.

As an aside, that was a really good interview by Jim Wyatt.
