We talked a little bit about Amari Cooper last week. He is a guy that is going to come up a lot when people are discussing who the Titans should take with their first pick. Cian Fahey of Roto World has an extensive breakdown of Cooper here.
Some highlights:
Cooper doesn't have the length and frame of a Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson, but he also doesn't have the quickness or subtlety of a Wes Welker or Kendall Wright.
That is similar to what I said last week, and it is what makes me hesitant to spend a top-5 pick on him.
However, Fahey compares Cooper to Demaryius Thomas. I think we can all agree that Thomas would be a top-5 pick in most drafts after the production he has put up in the NFL.
More from Fahey:
Both players show off good hands with decent ball skills, but neither is necessarily impressive in contested catch situations.
That means that you have to scheme smartly to get him the football. The rest of the article goes on to highlight what makes Cooper so special- and there is a lot to talk about. The way he sets up defensive backs is a thing of beauty.
I cannot wait to watch Cooper play in the NFL. He is going to make some fanbase very happy, but I still hope that the Titans don't go that direction with their first pick.
