There are no moral victories in the NFL, but as a Titans fan, you have to feel pretty good about the way they played tonight. They were leading for most of the game, and they didn't look like that lifeless group we have seen so many weeks this season. The most important thing to see over the rest of the season is progress. The Titans made some tonight.
Zach Mettenberger started the game off in horrible fashion. His first pass was intercepted and returned for a touchdown. He settled down after that and had a really nice game. He finished 15-24-263-2-1. Mett looked a lot more comfortable out there tonight.
The story of the night was Le'Veon Bell. He gashed the Titans for 204 yards on 33 carries. The Titans had no answer for him- especially late in the game. The Steelers kept the ball for the last 6:58 of the game.
Ray Horton dialed up blitzes all night on Ben Roethlisberger, and it was pretty effective for most of the night. They were able to sack Big Ben 5 times on the night. Avery Williamson was credited with two of those sacks. That guy is going to be a star for this defense for a long time.
The Titans also tried something new tonight with Bishop Sankey returning kickoffs. He did a nice job back there. That really means there is now no reason to have Leon Washington on this roster.
Like I said above, the Titans came out and fought hard tonight. In the end, they were just lost to a better team. I can live with that if there is progress week to week.
