Ken Whisenhunt announced after practice today that Craig Stevens is out for the season after undergoing surgery for a torn quad. He will be placed on IR in the next couple of days. Stevens looked good in camp, and I was really hoping that he could get more involved in the passing game this season.
Stevens took a pay cut this offseason when he was probably told that the team would release him if he did not. The new deal Stevens signed runs through next season. It will be interesting to see what they do with him this offseason.
Taylor Thompson is the guy that they hope to plug into Stevens role, but he has been sidelined with a knee injury for the last couple of weeks. Whiz sounded hopeful today that Thompson could be ready to go this week.
If not, Brett Brackett, who the Titans cut earlier this week but signed back to the practice squad, could be re-signed to the active roster when Stevens goes to IR.
