With One Move, Titans Fans Can Embrace Change

Tommy Smith and Ruston Webster hit refresh.

One final plot twist.

Just when you thought this season couldn't get anymore dramatic, Mike Munchak opts not to fire his staff members and in turn sacrifices his job.

Many fans here wanted a change and those wishes have come true. Tommy Smith and Ruston Webster have given this franchise something it desperately needs: a refresh.

Since 1994 this team has been run at head coach only by Jeff Fisher and Mike Munchak. One the teacher, the other his student. They share similar concepts and ideas. As much as some things changed when the Titans fired one and hired the other, many things stayed the same. This team still wanted to run the ball - and yet still struggled to accomplish that goal. The offense never progressed to a competent level. Fisher's tenure ended in part because of a poor defensive squad and Jerry Gray's defense certainly never worked in Munchak's favour.

No one knows who the Titans will hire and we will certainly discuss their likelihood of success once we start evaluating the names. One thing we can guarantee is that they will be new.

That is what this franchise needs. It is time for the Titans to attempt to succeed through a different approach. It is time for new schemes, new philosophies...just new everything.

This is an exciting time for Titans fans now and while it may or may not work out in the end, it's going to be really interesting to watch. Welcome to the most intriguing offseason the Titans have had in recent memory.
