There are multiple outlets reporting this morning that Jay Cutler has signed a 7-year contract extension with the Bears. It is not really a surprise that the Bears didn't want him to hit the open market. You can debate if Cutler is an elite quarterback or not, but he has elite quarterback skills.
I have never been a big fan of Cutler's on the field demeanor, but thought it would be a good idea for the Titans to make a run at him if he did hit the market. But, as I said above, any opinions on that are irrelevant at this point.
Of course had he hit the market, it probably would have taken Tommy Smith at least a week to get around to talking about what kind of money he would be willing to spend on him anyway.
