Lou Spanos, the two year DC for UCLA is joining the Titans staff as the linebackers coach, replacing the dreadful Chet Parlavecchio.
Spanos has 17 years of NFL coaching experience with the Redskins and Steelers. He worked alongside Mike Shanahan for an extended period in the same capacity that he will be fulfilling on the Titans. and has made Anthony Barr a name to watch in the first round of the upcoming draft. Spanos is one of only two individuals to be on the coaching staffs of Super Bowl XXX, XL, and XLIII teams.
There is little doubt the linebacking corps was one of the glaring weakness on the Titans roster in 2013, despite a healthy stable of talent. Things look good for a shakeup with Ray Horton taking over the defense, and the performance of the linebackers will be key in making the unit successful.
This is good news for Zach Brown and Akeem Ayers, who have only known poor coaches since entering the league.
