That was the type of game that Mike Munchak has built this team to play. Jake Locker was up and down at times, but the run game was solid the whole day. Chris Johnson struggled for a lot of the day, but Shonn Greene and Jackie Battle were very efficient with their runs (look for success rates on all three running backs tomorrow).
All of that is nice, but the story of the day was the defense. The defensive line was all over Ben Roethlisberger for the majority of the day. Jurrell Casey is going to be a household name by the end of the year. Big Ben is going to be having nightmares about him for weeks.
Another defender that really stood out today was Jason McCourty. The Steelers took multiple shots at him down the field, but his coverage was nearly perfect almost every time. There were a lot of people that were critical when the Titans gave him that long-term deal, but he lived up to that contract today.
Zach Brown is the third guy that had a fantastic game. He was all over the field and made a number of timely plays. I would like to hear what guys like Mike Mayock and Mel Kiper have to say about him now.
I also cannot write this post without mentioning Alterraun Verner. The coaching staff has tried to give his job away for the last two years, but ATV just keeps making plays. Hopefully that will end the nonsense about Tommie Campbell starting next week against the Texans.
