Jake Locker injury update; Titans QB won't need surgery will miss a month

New, comments

Jake Locker will miss a month according to Jim Wyatt. He has been released from the hospital.

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

Well as these things go, this is really good news.  Jim Wyatt is reporting that Jake Locker will be sidelined for a month with the hip injury he sustained in yesterday's game against the Jets.  With the Titans bye week being 3 weeks away, that means he might only miss 3 games.

Wyatt also reports that Locker will not need surgery and has been released from the hospital.  He underwent a number of tests today.

Of course the timetable could be longer depending on how he responds to rehab, but there is no doubt in my mind that Locker will be back on the short end of that number.

This makes it unlikely that they would use the short-term IR designation on him because he would have to miss 8 weeks if they do that.  A roster move should come today or tomorrow with Rusty Smith being called up from the practice squad.
