Nate Washington/Kendall Wright VS. Shareece Wright
I mention this one in my full preview of Sunday's Home Opener, but the Chargers CB Shareece Wright was dominated from start to finish last week against the Eagles. It wasn't pretty, and that's putting it mildly. The Titans will no doubt test him down the field, and I believe Kendall and Nate will give him plenty of trouble. If the Titans air it out (or at least give Locker some leash) Sunday, this will be their passing yards highway. Does the Bolt's corner have what it takes to bounce back this week?
Derrick Morgan VS Mike Harris
This will be Morgan's best chance early in the year to get some momentum going. He has played well through two weeks and the upcoming match-up will pit him against the Chargers backup RT, as the Alabama rookie, DJ Fluker, will likely miss the game with a concussion. The Titans need Morgan to dominate this week and put Rivers under pressure. While the Chargers have had major issues on defense, they haven't had any problems moving the ball through the air so far, so playing in the opposing backfield is a must for the Titans this week. Can Morgan get the job done?
Zach Brown VS. Antonio Gates
This is where my eyes will be most of the night when the Titans are on defense. One of, if not the, fastest linebacker in the league against an aging veteran who still flashes a ton of savvy and pass catching ability. This will be an important battle as is could well often dictate if the Titans D can get off the field. They haven't played a tight end in Gates' league yet this year so it will be a major test for them. If Brown is matched up with Gates on most downs (as I hope), it will also be a significant individual test to see how far Brown has come in year 2. So far he's playing incredible football, can he keep it up against a talent like Gates while keeping up his end of the bargain in the run defense?
Dowell Loggains VS. Himself
This may sound dumb, but hear me out. It has been mentioned ad nauseum that the Titans offense looked incredible on their opening drive and the 99yard crusade against the Texans last week, when the play-calling was wide open and Jake was delivering the ball down the field with decisiveness and accuracy. The issue was outside of those drives (and more importantly, after them) Loggains went directly back the Fisherball tactics we all know and love. Jake didn't do well on the 3rd and longs when he was put on the spot (many time after not having thrown a single pass for large chunks of game-time). With a weaker Chargers pass rush and a sieve-like secondary, this week presents a great opportunity for the young OC to show that he can adapt and run a wide open offense when its working, and put points on the board.
