1. Who is the easiest player on the roster to root for?
Alterraun Verner. This is an easy one for me. ATV has been great to the site and is a really fun player to watch. He doesn't have the best physical ability in the world, but he knows how to play football. He seems to really love the game. It is always fun to root for a guy like that.
2. If you could buy a ticket to one game this year...
It would be the Texans game at LP Field. The Texans are the king of the division right now, but I think the Titans can knock them off at home this year. I would love to be there to see it.
3. Who were the notable cuts?
The two notable players that were cut over the weekend were Rusty Smith and Fernando Velasco. Rusty was a fan favorite but become a victim to a numbers game this year (that and the fact that he isn't an NFL quarterback).
Fernando Velasco was a surprise cut. After starting all 16 games last season he seemed like a lock to make the roster. The Titans, however, decided to go with some cheaper option in the interior of the offensive line. Velasco will find work soon
4. Which second year player is going to make the biggest leap?
Kendall Wright is poised to have a big year. He has been slowed by a knee injury for the last few weeks, but he has the ability to be a dynamic player. The team didn't use him correctly last season, but look for Dowell Loggains to find ways to get the ball in his hands. Wright has a a lot of "wiggle" once he gets the ball in his hands.
5. What are the odds of Mike Munchak getting fired?
There is no doubt that Mike Munchak's seat is warm. It will heat up very rapidly if the Titans don't get off to a good start. Bud Adams loves Munch, so I don't think he has to make the playoffs to return for the last year of his contract, but he will need to show that he has the ability to field a competitive team. Anything less than 8-8 probably sends Munchak packing.
6. What franchise or NFL records could be broken this season?
Chris Johnson will tell you that he is going to break the single-season rushing record, but that isn't going to happen. He could challenge his yards from scrimmage record if he shows interest in catching the football. This offensive line will be the best one he has ever played behind, and they are going to have the ability to have a screen game for the first time in his career. CJ could be deadly on screens, but he has to learn to catch the football.
7. What rookies will see regular playing time this season?
Chance Warmack has been the starter since the moment he was drafted. He struggled a little bit in his first preseason game, but he has been as advertised since
Brian Schwenke could push for the starting center spot by the middle of the season. The only reason he wasn't in the mix during training camp was because he missed a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury.
Justin Hunter can earn playing time if he shows consistency. He has flashed the big play ability they drafted him fore, but just needs to prove that he can do it on an every down basis.
8. Predict the order of finish in the AFC South.
1. Houston Texans 11-5
2. Tennessee Titans 9-7
3. Indianapolis Colts 9-7
4. Jacksonville Jaguars 5-11
9. What do you expect the Titans record will be?
9-7 as I said above. I will not be surprised with anything from 6-10 to 10-6, but this team looks poised to make a big jump this season. They can be a legitimate contender in 2014.
