Alterraun Verner and Tommie Campbell Still Competing for RCB

New, comments

It is past time for the Titans to name a starter but they are still going to split playing time between Alterraun Verner and Tommie Campbell. This is head scratching in too many ways.

Inexplicably, Titans head coach Mike Munchak announced today that Tommie Campbell and Alterraun Verner will each play 1 quarter versus the Falcons Saturday night at LP Field. This makes very little sense to me since Verner has clearly outplayed Campbell thus far in the preseason.

I am all about competition and wanting to field the best player but this competition should be over. It is time for the Titans to play their starters in the secondary so they can continue to gel as a unit and develop better communication together.

Really, the inability to make a decision is frustrating to me. There was clear lack of communication in the defensive backfield the past 2 games and continuing to split time like this with the starters isn't going to remedy the situation. I know the Titans like Campbell and so do I. I just think it's past time they accepted the inevitable and named Verner the starter.
