The more you listen to people talk, the more it sounds like the Titans' coaching staff is hoping that Brian Schwenke wins the starting center job. The problem with that is he injured his hamstring on Saturday and wasn't able to practice on Sunday. The Titans are off today, and Mike Munchak said he could be back on Tuesday. That, of course, was before any tests had been run on Schwenke's leg.
The battle at center is an interesting one. Fernando Velasco did a really nice job there last year, but the team brought in a 4th round pick and a free agent in Rob Turner to compete for the spot.
There is no doubt that this team is building around the offensive line, and Munchak has talked about how important it is for the offensive line to gel in camp (which is why it is so infuriating that Chance Warmack isn't signed yet, but that is a different kind of flying all together).
If Schwenke is able to get back on the field tomorrow night, his chances to win the job won't take much of a hit. I have the feeling, however, that if this goes more than a couple of days his chances will be greatly diminished.
