Sleeper second year player stealing spotlight?

Which former rookie could have a breakout season in 2013?

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Pardon the title alliteration, but it sums up what I am about to say perfectly. Coty Sensabaugh is set for a huge season.

While all eyes are on the number two CB spot and the battle between Tommie Campbell, Alterraun Verner, and Blidi Wreh-WIlson, few are talking about how dominating Coty Sensabaugh has been in the slot.

After a great finish to the season, Sensabaugh has had a great series of OTAs and now training camp practices. In consecutive days Sensabaugh has picked off QBs, and he seems to be very comfortable in the aggressive system that new defensive coach Gregg Williams is employing.

The Titans need someone to step up in the slot this year, because someone has to cover speedy inside players like Cecil Shorts, Coby Fleerner, Dwayne Allen, and T.Y. Hilton in the AFC South.

I know it is all preseason and too early to tell, but it is great news that an interior defensive player is stepping up and becoming an impact player. For too long opposing teams have taken advantage of the Titans by abusing their seven-yard cushions and nonchalant attitude toward tight ends.

If Sensabaugh can develop into an above average player, then Titans fans may not fear third downs quite so much.
