Well this is the last article I will get to post before camp, and what better to do than to list who I think is deserving of a roster spot and who isn't.
My roster contains
Offense (26): QB-3, RB-3, TE-4, WR-7, OL-9
Defense (22): DT-4, DE-5, LB-5, DB-8
Special teams (5) : K-1, P-1, ST-3
QBs: Jake Locker, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Rusty Smith
-This one is easy, with no truly impressive fourth stringer the Titans go into the season with the most veteran players they have at QB.
RB: Chris Johnson, Shonn Greene, Darius Reynaud.
The Titans need the running game to be great this year and they could add another RB to the roster if someone produces well in preseaon. However, I think that having three durable RBs is good enough at this position unless an injury forces them to go elsewhere.
TE: Delanie Walker, Craig Stevens, Taylor Thompson, Jack Doyle
The Titans should be running a QB friendly offense, meaning lots of short passes to the RBs and TEs as well as a significant amount of running plays. If that is the case, then having four TEs on the roster makes a lot of sense. Doyle has a lot of upside and I think he will edge out Barden after a strong preseason.
WR: Kenny Britt, Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Nate Washington, Damian Williams, Kevin Walter, Michael Preston
The only surprise I here is Kevin Walter and Michael Preston over Marc Mariani. I am actually really pulling for Mariani, but at the end of the day I think Reynaud makes him replaceable.
I think the Titans could go with less than seven WRs, but I really like the options this group brings. On one play you could have speedsters like Washington, Wright, and Hunter. Then on another play you could roll out a big set of WRs like Preston, Britt, and well Hunter again. This should make the Titans a nightmare for DCs.
OL: Michael Roos, Andy Levitre, Fernando Velasco, Chance Warmack, David Stewart, Brian Schwenke, Rob Turner, Mike Otto, Barry Richardson
The Titans WILL go OL heavy this year and I count four very solid backups. The Titans may have the deepest and most talented offensive line in 2013, which is shocking after a 2012 campaign full of a terrible plague of injuries.
