I have been tabbed as a GM for a 2014 NFL Mock Draft. Now when I signed up I only figured it would be one or two rounds, but on further inspection it is a five-round mock. So I thought I would ask the fine readers of MCM who they want to see as a Titan in 2014.
Needs: S, DE, QB, MLB, OT, CB
At safety, the Titans will likely lose Bernard Pollard to free agency next year, and George Wilson will be a free agent in 2015. If the Titans are going to play an aggressive style of defense they will need protection behind the CBs. If the Titans could trade down to the middle of the first, get back their 3rd round pick, and take Ha-Ha Clinton-Dix that would be ideal.
The Titans need a playmaker at DE, plain and simple. Is it a huge need, no but it would escalate this defense to the next level. If Tennessee could take a dominant player like Stephon Tuitt from Notre Dame in the first round they could be much improved on the DL.
Obviously this is dependent on Locker, but if he has a bad year the Titans could look to draft T. Boyd, David Fales, or one of the west coast QBs (Mariota or Hundley) at some point early in the draft. If Locker has a good year then the Titans will probably forego drafting a QB at all to preserve the chemistry of the locker room.
The last three positions are mostly depth. At MLB the Titans need someone who can come in and replace McCarthy's production if he gets injured again. At OT the Titans could use a new RT if Stewart has too much wear and tear. Finally, CB could be a need if the Titans don't resign Verner and they will likely have a chance at elite OSU CB Bradley Roby.
Let me know what you think. Which position did I forget, which would you rather see, and who is your favorite player?
