Stop me if you have heard this one before Chris Johnson is talking about rushing for 2,000 yards again. Here is part of what he had to say to Jim Rome yesterday:
At the end of the day you want to stay in there," he noted. "I’d rather have 2,000 yards than have 20 touchdowns, so you got to take the good with the bad.
Of course he was talking about the Titans signing of Shonn Greene and what it will mean to CJ in terms of playing time.
CJ had 276 carries last season. While they mainly brought Greene in for the short-yardage issues, my guess is that they are going to give him at least 3-4 series per game as the tailback. That will probably cut CJ's carries down to about 240-250. That means he will have to average somewhere north of 8 yards per carry to get to 2,000.
I look for his YPC to tick up in 2013 (from 4.5 in 2012), but I cannot see it getting to 8. My guess is that he ends the season with somewhere around 1,200 yards.
