With the 97th and final third round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Titans select: Zavier Gooden LB Missouri
The Titans have selected Zavier Gooden for more depth in the linebacker corps, which is sorely needed given Colin McCarthy's injury history and lackluster play of the backups. He originally started out his Tigers career as a safety and transitioned to linebacker during his redshirt freshman season. Gooden was a team captain and wore #25 in honor of a teammate who passed away shortly prior to his entrance into the University of Missouri. He has underrated strength and ran blazing 4.47 40 at the Combine.
I like this pick as it upgrades the depth at linebacker after witnessing some horrific play by the backups when the starters were out. Gooden can play special teams while learning how to play an effective pro linebacker game. Gooden brings a high motor and won't miss too many tackles. A negative about him is that he is sometimes too aggressive and runs by a play but it can be coached out of him.
