2013 Mock Draft: Optimum Scouting's 2nd and 3rd Rounds

Safety help on the way for the Titans?

Beth Hall-USA TODAY Sports

Eric Galko of Optimum Scouting has put out a mock draft with second and third rounders. He has high riser Florida International S Johnathan Cyprien falling to 40 and LSU DT Bennie Logan at 70.

I would be in favor of this happening as Cyprien was projected to go in the late first round by a lot of experts and somehow fell into the second tonight. I expect him to go early though. Cyprien has been flying up the boards as of the Senior Bowl where he shined. He would be great depth to groom behind the presumptive starters Michael Griffin and Bernard Pollard/George Wilson. Cyprien's a bigger safety at 6'1 210+ so he might best suited to play as a strong safety in the box. The pro comp would be to a better in coverage than Bernard Pollard.

As for Bennie Logan, I'd be welcoming of that move as well. He was the glue guy that freed up space for his more touted defensive end teammates Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery. Logan would add to the already great stable of defensive tackles the Titans have. This pick would make our LSU fan contingent happy as well.

The defensive depth still remaining in this draft is crazy after a silly run of offensive linemen last night. Would I be surprised if the Titans go defense exclusively tonight? No I wouldn't but a receiver would be nice somewhere. The Titans are building the team in the right way, which is to be strong up the middle like in baseball.
