The revised big board for receivers is here! There are lots of changes from the last one I did in this edition. There's a new number one along with plenty of risers and fallers. Without further ado, here's why I ranked them as you see on the chart.
The new number one receiver is Tennessee's Cordarrelle Patterson in a close shave over Cal's Keenan Allen. I'm buying all in on his potential but Titans need to pass on him with the 10th overall pick if he lasts that far. There have been rumors of an alleged drop in Patterson's stock but this time of year, it's all hearsay and smokescreen. What I'm not buying is Keenan Allen's poor workout at his Pro Day. It's apparent that he's this year's Kendall Wright (poor Pro Day, still gets drafted in the first round.) Another Volunteers receiver, Justin Hunter has jumped from eighth to third. The word is that he's coming back into pre injury form and worked himself into the first round conversation. DeAndre Hopkins and Tavon Austin hold firm in the top 5. The one thing I really dislike about Austin is his lack of size. Nashville native Quinton Patton vaults into the sixth spot from 13th after a great draft tour. He really came alive during the Senior Bowl, often being the best receiver on the South team. The same could be said for Markus Wheaton after he lit up the North team. I really like Kansas State's Chris Harper because he reminds me of a younger Hines Ward and should fall into the range Ward was taken as well. Harper isn't the flashiest or fastest guy out there but he gets the job done. If Aaron Dobson fell to the third round for the Titans, I wouldn't complain one bit. Dobson is a reliable big body outside red zone threat that the Titans really need. The one guy who tumbled down the board is Arkansas' Cobi Hamilton after showing up at the Senior Bowl being shorter than listed and having one of the smaller hands of the group. Just missed: Connor Vernon (Duke), Denard Robinson (Michigan), Kenny Stills (Oklahoma), Alec Lemon (Syracuse), and Da'Rick Rogers (Tennessee Tech)
