2013 NFL Free Agency: Will Anquan Boldin be a Free Agent?

Could the Titans benefit from a forced Ravens roster purge?

USA TODAY Sports

WR Anquan Boldin is being asked to take a pay cut or he will be released. My .com exclusive:

There's some speculation that Anquan Boldin could be released if he doesn't take a pay cut by the Ravens. He currently has a cap charge of $7 million. However, the Ravens are under the cap by about $12 million even with Joe Flacco's big bucks deal factored in. They could lose OLB Paul Kruger (who's vastly underrated and will get paid soon) and ILB Dannell Ellerbe (the heir to Ray Lewis' throne) in free agency as well.

Would he be a good fit for the Titans? Absolutely without question. Boldin might have lost a step or two but he's still one of the toughest players to bring down in the league. He's one of the best "big game" receivers of the modern era next to Jerry Rice. Just see the most recent Super Bowl for examples, granted Flacco made some impressive throws but Boldin was in beast mode. For all the speculative hogwash that Nate Washington would be released, Boldin would be the guy I'd have no qualms cutting Washington and even Kenny Britt for. The plan in that case would be to sign Boldin and draft a big body type of receiver early like a Justin Hunter or Cordarrelle Patterson to take over Britt's duties.
