The Titans are scheduled to meet more prospects after meeting with LSU DE Barkevious Mingo and Kent State OG Brian Winters for workouts earlier in the month. I consider these meetings to be more important than the Combine meetings because at the Combine, it's more of a speed dating event there rather than more formal, in depth meetings at team headquarters. The visits lined up are very interesting.
Obviously, the big news we can parse through is that Vanderbilt QB Jordan Rodgers is scheduled to meet. The news can't be good for Rusty Smith's career prospects as a Titan. If Rodgers stays in the same city for his NFL career as he did in college, it would spell the end of Rusty Smith wearing a Titans uniform. Rodgers would be a good fit for what Dowell Loggains is trying to do and could sit behind Ryan Fitzpatrick as the developmental third string QB. He's more athletic than most people give him credit for while Smith is a cannon-armed statue in the mold of Drew Bledsoe (yeah I'm really dating myself going back that far). Reportedly, the Titans sent 8 people to Vanderbilt's pro day but given the location of both parties, I don't read anything overly special into that.
Louisiana Tech WR Quinton Patton, a Nashville native, has stated in the past that he'd love to be drafted by the hometown Titans. Patton had a standout career at La Tech over the past four years so he fits the mold of a Titans pick right off the bat. He opened some eyes at the Senior Bowl, easily the best overall receiver on the South squad. The Senior Bowl proved to scouts that he isn't just a product of the pass happy Sonny Dykes system (it's similar to what Mike Leach ran at Texas Tech).
Georgia CB Sanders Commings had an up and down senior season but overall a good one. He's one of the bigger corners in the class at 6'2 200 plus. The Combine 40 really helped him as he ran in the mid to high 4.4s. However, I'm a little wary of him as I am with most of the Alabama and LSU defensive players. The question begs itself, how good are they really with all that talent surrounding them?
