Well this one hurts a little bit, but it appears that Matt Hasselbeck is on the verge of signing a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. That report says that Hasselbeck is not looking for the best place to get a starting job, but the best shot at winning a Super Bowl. Those two things are mutually exclusive for Matthew at 37 because he isn't getting a starting job on a good team.
It will be interesting to see how much money he ends up getting. His base would have been $5.5 million with the Titans. That is a big number for a backup quarterback, but those guys are making really good money these days. The deal Matt Cassel signed last week with the Vikings will pay him about $3.7 million according to ESPN.
I also think it is debatable how close the Colts are to winning a Super Bowl. They made the playoffs last year, but they were still quite a ways from the elite teams of the AFC.
