Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Titans have shown interest in defensive end Elvis Dumervil. The events surrounding Dumervil's release have been well chronicled, and he has moved on from his agent who didn't get the contract back to the Denver Broncos in time.
This would be a huge move for the Titans. Dumervil might not have a whole lot left in the tank, but there is no doubt that he could come in and help the Titans for the next couple of years. He knows how to get to the passer and would take a lot of pressure off of the rest of the defense.
The only question at this point is how the Titans would afford to pay Dumervil. Ruston Webster said last week that the team is currently about $5 million under the cap. Dumervil was willing to play for $8 this season in Denver, so that would be about as cheap as he would come.
The Titans could always give him a multi-year deal to spread the money that hits the cap this year out a little bit, but they would still probably need to make another move or two.
