From Ice0ne(CAJ):

Yes, this comes as a shock as i was really going to take Xavier Rhodes with this pick. But as I talked and snooped around and asked the POL crew, they mostly wanted Fisher. This pick is from the assumption that Chris Houston is returning to the Lions. Their other side of the field is up for grabs from their 3 draft picks at CB last year. Jonte Bell, Bill Bentley, and Chris Greenwood, Greenwood missed all his rookie seasons from offseason surgey just like our Markelle Martin. Ron Bartell could also lock the position down. Think of how Jason McCourty was his rookie season, and how he is know. That's what the lions hope they can get out of one of their sophmore Cbs this year, a solid starter.
Now back to the reason i chose Eric, it seems like The Lions OT Jeff Backus is thinking of retiring this year or next and Gosder Cherilus, who is coming off of a great year, is heading to free agency for Jared Cook money. Jason fox is a Restriced Free Agent who the lions see as a possible starter, so he will most likely be back so there could be a camp battle for starter and back up role in this scenario. Riley Reiff is ready to step into Cherilus's role, but they need someone ready for the transition of Backus's retirement and possible age related benching somewhere in the season to bring the Fisher or Fox in and get some live game experience.
