NFL Draft 2013 Prospect Profile: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU

Measurables:

Height: 6'5

Weight: 270 lbs

40 time: 4.62

Positives:

Extremely quick off the line with great burst

Great push even against larger sized lineman

Big time motor, tracks down plays with pursuit

Reads the screen well able to track down quicker runningbacks in the flats

Negatives:

Very raw

Can at times be pushed around due to poor technique

Lacks the experience to produce early

Rushes upright creating poor weight distribution

Conclusions:

Ezekiel Ansah is perhaps one of my favorite prospects in this years draft, right up there with Chance Warmack and Cordarelle Patterson. Despite his lack of experience his raw talent and tenacity off the line is something I believe can and will lead to long term success in the league. However, that is not the question. The question is whether or not he is worthy of being drafted so high. While I believe he has that type of skill, I still say no. Only due to the fact that his success will hinge on whether he is drafted by a team with an established defensive line he can grow on, or if he will be thrust into the spotlight with hopes of carrying the load. In terms of his fit in Tennessee, of course any human being who can breathe and knows how to tackle would be a welcome addition to the team, but with other pressing needs and an pretty deep defensive class, the Titans would more than likely be better off passing on him and instead going for a sure fire stud in the first if available, *cough* *cough* Warmack *cough*.
