Mike Mayock is another "draft guy" that I really respect. I know he made the allergic to contact comment last year, but he is a guy that is right a lot more than he is wrong. Anyway, he has released his top five players at every positionfor the 2013 NFL Draft.
Let's start with safeties:
1. Kenny Vaccaro, Texas
2. Matt Elam, Florida
3. Johnathan Cyprien, Florida International
4. Eric Reid, LSU
5. Zeke Motta, Notre Dame
There is a lot of love out there for the Cyprien kid. My guess is that all five of these guys will end up being good NFL players, although I need to see more of Motta, which again brings up the point that there really is no reason to take Vaccaro at 10.
The only other list I want to highlight is defensive end*:
1. Bjoern Werner, Florida State
2. Damontre Moore, Texas A&M
3. Ezekiel Ansah, BYU
4. Sam Montgomery, LSU
T-5. Datone Jones, UCLA
T-5. Margus Hunt, SMU
He has Werner at the top of the board, where a lot of people have been sliding Werner down boards recently. All of these guys will be interesting to watch at the combine.
*Barkevious Mingo is not on the list because Mayock lists him as an outside linebacker, but he is only 4th on that list.
