Today would have been Steve McNair's 40th birthday. I immediately got sad when I saw that tweet from Jim Wyatt this morning. McNair was one of my first heroes in sports (even though it wasn't until my senior year of high school that I really became a fan).
I just remember having the confidence that he was going to play through anything that came his way. In an era where it seems like so many guys are just in it for the money, you knew that wasn't the case with McNair. He was out there playing for the love of the game and was willing to sacrifice his body week in and week out to get a win.
Of course there are a lot of people that will only remember him for the details that came out surrounding his death, I choose to remember him as the guy who gave everything for his team every week, and gave more back to the community than most athletes do.
Take a minute to think about his family today.
Happy Birthday Air McNair.
