Fred Smoot played for Gregg Williams in Washington, and he tweeted this morning that Williams is interested in the head coaching job of the Redskins.  I am not surprised to hear that Williams is interested in the job, but I was a little bit surprised when I went to Hogs Haven yesterday and they had Williams as a candidate for the job.

I am not surprised because I don't think he is a good coach- clearly he is- but from all reports Williams was all but radioactive last offseason after serving his suspension for the bounty thing.  He has now put some distance between himself and that.  I wasn't sure if it was enough to be considered for a head coaching job.

I don't know how interested the Redskins are in Williams at this point, but his name is out there.

This is another reason Tommy Smith needs to speed up the decision process on Mike Munchak.  Williams probably doesn't end up getting a head coaching job, but he will draw a lot of interest as a defensive coordinator.  Munchak can't make a decision on the D coordinator here until he knows if he will be back in 2014.  What if Williams gets an offer somewhere else in the mean time?

Then the Titans would be stuck with another year of Jerry Gray as the defensive coordinator.  Catch the fever!
