Week 5: Predictions From The Contributors

Week 5 and our hero is hurt. Hopefully we are in for a little FitzMagic. Still no perfect scores. I am convinced it's gonna happen!

nashvilleman kicks us off:

nashvilleman (3-1)

This is a tough one for me. If Jake Locker was still our starting quarterback, I would guarantee that this would be a win. Kansas City has a really good defense especially their edge rushers in Tamba Hali and Justin Houston which might give our offensive line fits as well as having Dontari Poe on defensive line. With that being said, our defense against the KC offense is a good matchup and I think they can get after Alex Smith and their receiving options aren't that impressive. The defense is 24th in the league in rushing yards so I am expecting a big day for the running game especially from Chris Johnson. Ultimately, it will be a tight game and the defense and running game will have a strong game and Ryan Fitzpatrick will do just enough to win the game for us.

Titans 24 - Chiefs 17

Jommy (4-0)

This is the first game that I have no idea how to predict. I would have called it a win, no doubt, if Jake Locker was going to play.

With that being said, I think this team will rally around Ryan Fitzpatrick and get a W.

Titans 17 - Chiefs 13

SharonaMadeTheDeadline (4-0)

The 3-1 Tennessee Titans play host to the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs Sunday in the third straight home game of the season. These two teams are matched fairly evenly. The Titans have played a tougher season to date but make no mistake the Chiefs are for real. Led by Alex Smith on offense, the Chiefs are playing efficient football much like the Titans have been doing. Indeed, the teams are both ranked #1 in the league (tied) in the takeaway ratio at +9. The Titans have yet to turn the ball over while the Chiefs have 2 interceptions. Kansas City has been far more consistent running the football however. The Titans will need to get their run game back on course but they face a tough pair of linebackers in Justin Houston and Tamba Hali. The offensive line needs to protect Fitzpatrick and the team that takes care of the ball and forces turnovers likely wins this game. Titans remain on a roll and take care of business before the home crowd in a close hard fought game.

Titans 24 - Chiefs 17

Gunnels (4-0)

I am completely torn here. With Locker at the helm, the Titans should roll over the Chiefs continuing their hometown win streak for the year. Without Locker, I worry about the offense struggling to get things going. The Chiefs 4-0 is against questionable teams, but you could say the same about the Titans. The homer in me says Fitzpatrick sprinkles some magic, the run game somehow gets going, the defense stays resilient, and Locker wills them to victory from the sideline.

Titans 20 - Chiefs 17

DanielR (4-0)

I miss Jake Locker already. With him I would've taken the Titans to keep the momentum going against the undefeated Chiefs, but without their leader I think this team is going to struggle. Kansas City is really, really strong. Andy Reid is getting more out of a talented roster and Alex Smith looks rejuvenated. Watch for their defensive line to put pressure on Fitzpatrick all day and for that secondary to take advantage of some poor decisions.

Chiefs 27 - Titans 14

GoldenG (4-0)

I was gonna go with a loss in this one, then I saw this:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Titans&amp;src=hash">#Titans</a> safety Bernard Pollard on <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Chiefs&amp;src=hash">#Chiefs</a>: "I’m mad at the fact they’ve decided to come here and play football in our stadium.&quot;</p>&mdash; Jim Wyatt (@jwyattsports) <a href="https://twitter.com/jwyattsports/statuses/386141411315552256">October 4, 2013</a></blockquote>

Titans 24 - Chefs 10

SuperHorn (2-2)

Titans get the edge here after the beating they put on the Jets last week. I have similar concerns offensively with Turner matching up against Poe, who's been on a tear recently. I expect a good game, but I think the Titans can grind out a win.

Titans 17 - Chiefs 13

Xanpham (if that is indeed your real name) (3-0)

This will be a huge test for this Titans team sans it's leader in Jake Locker. That said, the Titans are also far and away the best team the Chiefs have played this year so far. I see a very physical game predicated on some key turnovers. Both offenses will struggle. Without Locker I see this as a wash, and as a game that may be determined by little more than a late FG.

Titans 16 - Chiefs 14

I hate the freaking St Louis Cardinals (2-1)

Titans win a tough defensive slugfest. Fitzpatrick gets it done and CJ has a breakout game. On defense we rush the pants off of Alex Smith and force him to make mistakes.

Titans 17 - Chiefs 10

Only one pick for the visitors this week. Breaks up our "everybody picking the good guys" streak. Hopefully CanaDan is wrong.

The poll wanted a blowout last week, and it got one! So you improve to 2-2.

GO TITANS!
