Akeem Ayers fined $17,500 by the NFL for hit on Colin Kaepernick

Yep. The play that was just a borderline penalty in the Titans game against the 49ers has turned into a $17,500 fine.

This is just ridiculous.  Akeem Ayers is being fined for this hit on Colin Kaepernick.  I think you can make the argument that this shouldn't have been called a penalty (but I understand why it was called), but it is just insane to fine him for that play.

They really need to just put flags on the quarterback.  You can tackle everyone on the field, but quarterbacks are under flag football rules.  That is just about what it has come to at this point, and now you are hitting a guy in his wallet for a hit that should be legal.

Nice work NFL!
