Jake Locker expected for Titans against the 49ers

Recent positive news may be game changing for the Titans

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

At the time of the injury, the Titans were hoping that QB Jake Locker would be back sometime this season. After a night in the hospital, an optimistic estimate put Locker back in six weeks. Last week it looked like Locker would be ready before then, and fans and coaches hoped for him to be able to start practicing full-tilt during the bye week. Now it looks like he may be a shocking active for Sunday's game vs the San Francisco 49ers.

Ian Rapoport, an NFL writer who has contacts in Tennessee had this to say.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Titans&amp;src=hash">#Titans</a> expect QB Jake Locker to start Sunday vs <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%2349ers&amp;src=hash">#49ers</a>, source says, barring late setback. Stunning recovery 3 weeks after being carted off</p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="https://twitter.com/RapSheet/statuses/391589564973723648">October 19, 2013</a></blockquote>

Terry McCormick of Titaninsider.com has heard similar things apparently.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Things are looking good for Jake Locker to be on track to start Sunday for <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Titans&amp;src=hash">#Titans</a> vs 49ers.</p>&mdash; Terry McCormick (@terrymc13) <a href="https://twitter.com/terrymc13/statuses/391624918611546112">October 19, 2013</a></blockquote>

So it looks like Locker will get the start for the Titans Sunday. While I expect a significant cutback in designed runs I imagine that he will be healthy enough to make all the passes with velocity.
