Alen Dumonjic has an excellent piece up on RotoWorld today breaking down Florida safety Matt Elam. In case you didn't know this already, the Titans are in desperate need of help at the safety position. Elam is a guy that I am going to be begging for them to draft from now until April.
You really should go read the whole piece, but the conclusion that Dumonjic comes to is that he needs to work on his technique in coverage, but he is a big hitter and a sure tackler. While the Titans obviously need a safety who can cover, they are also desperate for one who can tackle and brings an attitude to the defense. Elam is both.
They would be able to teach him technique in time. It sounds like the first thing they would need to do is get him out of the big hit mentality. The NFL will help the Titans coaching staff with that by fining him when he makes the same hits in the league that he did in college.
